Ohio State Buckeyes Wide Receiver On Pace To Break Program Records

This former Ohio State Buckeye wide receiver is on course to break several school records in 2024.

Heading into the 2024 college football season, Ohio State Buckeyes veteran wide receiver Emeka Egbuka was on track to set many program records. Through six games this season, the long-time Buckeye is on track to break them.

After four outstanding years, Egbuka needed 78 receptions and 1,042 receiving yards in his last season at Ohio State to break KJ Hill and Michael Jenkins’ program records.

With half of the 2024 season completed, Egbuka has 40 receptions for 526 yards and six touchdowns. He is presently ranked second among Ohio State pass catchers in receiving yards and touchdowns, trailing only rookie wonder Jeremiah Smith.

But the future NFL prospect remains quarterback Will Howard’s primary target, with Egbuka leading the club in receptions. He has steadily increased his performance throughout conference play, with 26 catches for 270 yards and five touchdowns in three games.

If Egbuka averages 86 yards and six receptions during the team’s last six games, he may break both marks by the end of the season. While these stats may appear difficult to achieve over the course of six games, Egbuka has a good chance of accomplishing them. He presently averages roughly seven catches per game for approximately 88 receiving yards.

Even if Egbuka does not break both marks by the end of the regular season, the Buckeyes are likely to qualify for a bowl game or the College Football Playoffs, giving the Ohio State wideout a better chance of leaving Columbus with both records.
