Shaun Kenny-Dowall, the development coach for Hull Kingston Rovers, is “over the moon” that Lewis Wing and Louix Gorman have been selected for the Ireland team before their match against Scotland.

In order to support the growth of new players, former New Zealand player Kenny-Dowall has expressed his wish to see more international matches of this kind on the schedule. The team’s captain for the fall international match against Scotland will be George King, who leaves Hull KR after being on their books for this season. Ged Corcoran will be the head coach.

Kenny-Dowall said on the call-ups of backs Gorman and Wing: “Louix has a great attitude, he works hard, and he wants to get better every day.” He is capable of playing several positions. Louix deserves praise for his desire to accomplish that and learn new things. Even though he is still learning those positions, he is approaching them correctly and has made great progress.

Lewis, who came from the London system, is relatively fresh. His attitude and optimism are contagious. In the academy group, he takes on a leadership role. He has excellent technique because he was formerly a sprinter. He has a fantastic attitude and speed to burn, and I’m excited to see him again in the future, but I don’t think we’ve yet seen his full potential and heights.

“Those lads have a fantastic opportunity to reflect their background, and I think it’s fantastic. They may discuss their backgrounds with others and hone their rugby league talents, which will advance the international game—something I believe is crucial—by having these matches all year long. In order for these players to give it their all and keep improving both for themselves and the global game as a whole, we must make more of these games easily accessible to them if we are truly serious about expanding the game.
