Junior Firpo ranks alongside Messi and Haaland after what Leeds United ace did

Junior Firpo of Leeds United has been listed among Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland in terms of match ratings for the Dominican Republic during the international break.

The 28-year-old played for his country in two games against Antigua and Barbuda, scoring three goals.

The Whites star distinguished out with his performance on October 12, which earned him a 9.5 grade from SofaScore.

In an Instagram post on October 16, the Leeds defender revealed that he performed as well as Haaland for Norway and was only 0.5 behind Messi, who was rated 10 for his performance against Bolivia.

The former Barcelona player was in good goalscoring form for his country in a surprising appearance for the Leeds defender.

Firpo has scored only three goals at Elland Road since signing from the La Liga powers in July 2021, and he equaled that total during the international break.

He scored three goals in two CONCACAF Nations League games, including a cheeky panenka penalty.

It should be noted that Firpo plays further forward for the Dominican Republic than he would under Daniel Farke, which has helped him score goals.

During the break, he played as a left winger, but when he returns to Championship action, he will play defensively.

It’s great to see a Leeds player featured among Messi and Haaland, who are clearly two of the top players in the world.

The Elland Road supporters will be hoping that Firpo can return from international service with this form to bolster the Whites’ chances.
