Daniel Farke receives boost from Premier League side as Leeds United star jets in in time for Sheffield United clash

Leeds United are busy preparing for a huge Championship clash against Sheffield United on Friday night in a clash between two promotion hopefuls, and Daniel Farke has received an unexpected boost.

Despite the international break only coming to an end as late as Wednesday, Leeds and Sheffield United have been scheduled to play on Friday night with a game of this magnitude always likely to be on TV.

Leeds have injuries, going into Friday’s heavyweight bout. Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Max Wober are long-term absentees at Elland Road, though Daniel Farke said Wober is ahead of schedule after surgery.

Dan James and Manor Solomon are fit to play on Friday, though. One other doubt for Leeds is Brenden Aaronson and if he would be back in time to take on Chris Wilder’s side, with bragging rights at stake.

Fulham emerge as unlikely help in big Daniel Farke boost

Aaronson played the full 93 minutes in the early hours of Wednesday morning as USA suffered a 2-0 loss to Mexico. Charlie Davies described Aaronson’s display as the worst he’s ever seen from the Leeds ace.

But it also left Aaronson with 60 hours to get back in time for Friday night, and with the American having to overcome jet lag, fatigue. But, Fulham have offered a helping hand according to Mexican site TUDN.

They say they have supplied a private jet for Raul Jimenez to return on Thursday morning, and allowed other players to travel, too. That includes Aaronson after Jimenez scored against his USA side in a 2-0 win.

If Brenden Aaronson can’t start, what are Daniel Farke’s options?

While he is back on time and can start the recovery process quickly in order to get ready for Friday night, there are still no guarantees he will be risked. Even if he does start, it is unlikely he exceeds 60 minutes.

Farke has plenty of options but none as good as starting Aaronson, the player he has described as the club’s only natural no.10 in the senior squad. The Leeds boss will hope he can at least start Aaronson.

It is not as if the options that can come in are full of minutes, either. Solomon missed the international break, Gnonto is just returning from it and Piroe has been criticised for his form when used as a 10.
