“I stepped on his ankle” – Defender apologises for hurting Tottenham player last night, could’ve seen red

This season, Dejan Kulusevski has been among Tottenham’s greatest players, therefore Spurs supporters would be devastated to see the Swede go down with an injury anytime soon.

Thankfully, despite a threat that came his way during the match against Estonia yesterday, the offensive midfielder has evaded such on international duty.

According to FotbollSkanalen, Karol Mets of Estonia fouled the Tottenham player, who was left reeling from the late challenge and writhing about in pain.

Mets was only shown a yellow card but he apologised to the player after the game, which Sweden won 3-0.

According to FootballSkanalen, he stated: “It was just a regular duel.” I stepped on his ankle after slipping a little. I hope it wasn’t something serious and that he is okay.

He expressed pleasure that it was a yellow: “Yes, without a doubt. It might have even been something else (red card) on a bad day. Thus, it was reasonable.

The Spurs player appeared to accept the apologies following the victory as well.

He didn’t want to do anything negative. I could continue playing.

Fans of the 24-year-old would also be relieved to hear these remarks.

Although Kulusevski has only scored one goal and provided one assist in the Premier League thus far, he has been a creative force in the attacking midfield position.

The main challenge for Spurs has been converting opportunities; if that issue was resolved, Kulusevski’s performances would be more well recognised.

As things stand, he can carry on working against West Ham this next Saturday.
