£100m Pep Guardiola transfer dig as Nottingham Forest sent warning

Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as they prepare to face Cole Palmer and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Richard Keys has praised Chelsea’s Cole Palmer ahead of Nottingham Forest’s visit to Stamford Bridge.

After Palmer scored four goals in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Brighton last weekend, manager Enzo Maresca dubbed him the Premier League’s finest player. He scored all four goals in the first half at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues face Forest at home in the Premier League on Sunday (2pm).
After scoring 22 goals in the Premier League last season, he joined Chelsea from Manchester City for £42.5 million and has already scored six goals this season. Keys said on his blog: “Cole Palmer. Wow. What a player. He’s much ahead of (Jude) Bellingham.

“I don’t think better money has ever been spent. Guardiola made a terrible mistake by letting him go. He’s already worth £100 million more than Chelsea spent, and he’s just going to improve. “I love watching him.”

Gary Neville also believes Palmer is “not far off” being the Premier League’s best player. When asked if he agreed with Maresca, Neville told NBC Sports, “He’s not far off!” I have to admit that I was astonished last season.

“I remember when Mohamed Salah scored those goals all those years ago and I thought, ‘He won’t repeat that in the second season, he won’t repeat that in the third season’, and Cole Palmer is just going and completely shocking me in terms of what he’s delivering.”I can’t believe how good he’s gotten, and the fact that he wasn’t playing for England in the European Championship this summer is insane.

“And it seems even more ridiculous that Manchester City, who have been unbelievable in the transfer market, have let one of their own go.”
