Jerry Jones addresses Lions-Cowboys ‘fuzzy’ ending

Unsurprisingly, Jerry Jones, the owner of Dallas, chose not to protest the refereeing during the Cowboys’ puzzling victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 17.

According to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Jones stated on KRLD-FM in Dallas on Tuesday, “I can’t believe the convoluted way that we ended up winning that game.” However, to put it this way, the defensive unit is expected to be aware of the eligibility of the receivers. You could get fuzzy for anything you do to clear that up.”

In an attempt to surprise the Cowboys, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said on Monday that the team had sent two offensive linemen to the sidelines prior to their disastrous two-point convert. This isn’t a good enough justification, and the crew most likely made the incorrect decision, even though it might have added to the uncertainty.

Jones’ remarks shouldn’t take attention away from Dallas‘ primary defensive issue, which is its incapacity to stop teams when it matters most. The defense needs to become better, even standout linebacker Micah Parsons said after the 20-19 victory over Detroit (11-5).

“I don’t even feel like we should have been in that position,” Parsons said, per Saad Yousuf of The Athletic. “How much we put into two-minute, how we pride ourselves on getting stops in the game, it’s definitely some things we got to fix. That’s something we’ve got to look at.”

In a 22-20 loss to Miami in Week 16, the Cowboys allowed the Dolphins to engineer a 12-play, 64-yard drive en route to a winning field goal. Despite the late-game mishaps, Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn remains confident.

He told the journalists on Monday, “This is a group I really trust in that scenario.” “Over the past three years, they have developed that trust with me. Do I feel satisfied with the outcomes over the past two weeks? Absolutely not. However, if I were to suggest anything different, I would undoubtedly make the occasional call but not make any significant changes.”

The Cowboys (11-5) are still in a fantastic position and have already secured a postseason trip. Should they triumph over the Washington Commanders (4–12) on Sunday, they would secure the second seed in the NFC.
