Jerry Jones: Anything that limits Micah Parsons Should be a Hold.
Micah Parsons, a linebacker with the Cowboys, expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating during Sunday’s Dolphins game.
After receiving a call for roughing Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during the game, Parsons remarked that it is “just hard
to play defense” because of the officials’ decision to raise the flag even though he didn’t leave his feet.
In the play, I didn’t take the lead with my head. But the flag on Parsons isn’t the only officiating problem that he and the Cowboys are upset about.
The Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that there is “no question” that Parsons is not getting
enough sacks due to restrictions that should be penalized. This is the first time in 38 quarters that a holding penalty has been
issued on a player attempting to block Parsons. Because of their talent, Jones claimed that he had witnessed talented players not receive calls on occasion before.
According to Jones, via WFAA, “They usually won’t call a holding penalty in a certain range of holding if they don’t think the
player would’ve gotten to the quarterback in the first place.” Parsons can’t utilize that because he is going to be there virtually of the time. A hold should be placed on anything that just restricts him.
This season, penalties have been imposed on Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid for their criticism of officials.
Parsons might experience the same, but if he also earns a penalty or two before the Cowboys finish this season, he and the team will probably think it was worth it.
