The 3 Aston Villa players who should be sold in 2024, including £17m ‘maverick’

The 3 Aston Villa players who should be sold in 2024, including £17m ‘maverick’

Aston Villa has had a fantastic year, but this means that the team needs to get better. These three players might be available for sale in 2024.

Under Unai Emery, Aston Villa has had an incredible season as they have risen through the Premier League. The Villans, who qualified for the Europa Conference League the previous season, will now compete for a spot in the Champions League.

There have been numerous standout performers in 2023 thanks to the outstanding form displayed.

The B6 stars have had an incredible year, from Ollie Watkins up forward to Emi Martinez in goal.

Having said that, there are disadvantages to this great form for the squad’s other periphery players.

Let’s examine three guys who could be off the field this season.

1. Robin Olsen

Despite being Villa’s Argentinean number one’s backup, Olsen might believe that his future is elsewhere. Because Martinez doesn’t play that way naturally, the Villans need a backup goalie who can play similarly to the Swede. He might thus be sold in the upcoming months as a result.

According to FootMob, in over two years at the club, he has only managed fourteen appearances across all competitions. Even though he’s played well at times, like against Tottenham, he’s probably going to move on.

2. Calum Chambers

Calum Chambers has had an odd spell at Aston Villa. Considering he joined from Arsenal on a free transfer, he has shown to be a valuable asset.

He hasn’t had much, if any, playing time under Emery, which will probably result in his sale.

He has only appeared in three games this season, all of which were in the Conference League, according to Footmob.

April marked his final Premier League appearance, with just 26 minutes of action.

Even as a squad member, it seems that Chambers is unnecessary for Villa, and as such, he ought to be sold.

3. Bertrand Traore

Villa supporters will never forget Bertrand Traore, the guy who helped the team qualify for Europe the previous season.

Birmingham Live called him a “maverick” after his outstanding goal against Leicester City in the previous season.

Since joining from Lyon in 2020 for £17 million, he hasn’t played much.

He left the team on loan, but his career in B6 hasn’t taken off. He has played in just 10 minutes in his last two Premier League games, therefore it’s probable he will be moved.
