Aston Villa learn miserly asking price to bring 27-year-old back to Premier League

As Unai Emery looks to bring in a major offensive addition, Aston Villa might sign Kelechi Iheanacho for as little as £10 million in January.

Football Insider reports that Aston Villa may make a move for Kelechi Iheanacho, who they could sign for as little as £10 million. To expand his options, Unai Emery is looking to add a reliable striker, perhaps even returning the 26-year-old to the Premier League.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s situation at Leicester

Leicester City allowed some of their stars to leave the club following their relegation from the Premier League last season, but that did not include Kelechi Iheanacho. The Foxes wanted their chance of returning to the top flight in the first time of asking, and that involved keeping few of their top stars.

Iheanacho has made a modest contribution to their cause, as the Foxes are six points clear at the top of the Championship table. Leicester remain a favorite, but their bid to gain automatic promotion by winning the title may suffer a blow if Iheanacho leaves.

A lot of clubs have already expressed interest in the January window. The Nigerian is apparently not keen in staying longer at the King Power, despite Leicester’s apparent attempts to do so. As a result, teams eager to get the 26-year-old back into the Premier League may be able to do it at a reasonable cost.

In comparison to other teams that might have approached, Aston Villa’s interest in Iheanacho might have had a greater influence on the player’s thoughts. The 26-year-old’s vast top-flight experience might be quite helpful if the Nigerian manages to make it back to the Premier League.

Aston Villa can sign Iheanacho for £10 million or less.

With Iheanacho’s contract expiring in the summer, circumstances could force Leicester’s hand over a sale. Aston Villa can reportedly sign the 26-year-old for £10 million or even lower if they can find a way to negotiate with the Foxes.

In order to give Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby, and Leon Bailey additional competition, Unai Emery is still eager to bring in a new attacker. Given that the Nigerian is on the verge of reaching his prime and has solid experience scoring goals in the top division, Iheanacho is a wise investment.

Timo Werner has also been given consideration by Villa, despite the German’s ongoing struggles at RB Leipzig. Nevertheless, with the options available to him, Emery might select Ieahanacho just on the basis of his total contribution to the squad and his Premier League experience.
