Entire NFC South division’s head coaches under evaluation by ownership according to NFL insider

With the exception of the AFC South, most NFL divisions are still up for grabs, but none is tighter than the NFC South, where

three of the four clubs are still vying for the division title. The teams with the best chance of making it to the postseason seemed to be the New Orleans Saints or the Atlanta Falcons three weeks ago.

Currently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lead the NFC South by just a half-game, following three straight victories.

A year earlier, with seven wins apiece, the other three teams were just one win away from winning the division, which required just eight wins.

We could see a similar story this year, where it only takes eight or nine wins to clinch a playoff spot. With three games left to

play for the Bucs and Falcons and just two left for the Saints, we’re bound to see a few more shifts before the regular season ends.

In Carolina, David Tepper has already changed the coaching staff; the Panthers will appoint a new head coach for the third time

in the previous four seasons. However, there’s also a feeling that the NFC South’s other three coaches might be fired as well.

The three head coaches in the NFC South still in place are reportedly “being evaluated” by the team’s ownership, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

There have been conflicting reports regarding Arthur Smith’s job security in Atlanta. However, if the Falcons can win two

straight and get back into the playoffs, that might help tip the scales in his favor.

Then there’s New Orleans, who has helped maintain pace since Sean Payton left the Saints, yet they also haven’t established themselves as the class of the division.

Todd Bowles has led a mediocre effort in Tampa Bay as well, but the Buccaneers are currently leading their division.

This is all happening without Tom Brady, who led the Bucs to eight wins the previous season. Don’t look now, but Baker

Mayfield has the Bucs at seven wins with three games remaining. Could Bowles really be fired after switching from Brady to

Mayfield and possibly increasing the team’s win total? That’s still up in the air, but as of right now, it seems like all options are

on the table in the Negro division.
