Sean McVay excited after Rams win, praises Kyren Williams, whole team

Following the team’s victory over the New Orleans Saints, Sean McVay appeared to be in high spirits during the press conference. He seems to compliment every player, but when the head coach remarks,

“We’re different when he plays,” he really makes an effort to celebrate Kyren Williams. The head coach states bluntly that there is enough footage and inventory to conclude that Williams has a significant impact on this Rams club. As the Rams continue to push for the playoffs, Kyren has been on a tear and has helped LA win multiple games.

It’s late at the time of this writing. Let’s keep it short and sweet.

Coming out, McVay expresses how much he loves this team. This year, he has been showing his affection a lot, and what is there not to enjoy? Puca Nakua, Williams, Demarcus Robinson, Aaron Donald, Kobie Turner, Matthew Stafford, and Steve Avila. This club appears to be full with skill, and McVay says they have a lot of good players in their locker room.

“Love the resilience of this group. They just continue to show up.”

When LA was on their losing streak going into their bye week McVay was still saying he loved the team, but what else was he going to say? Now it seems like he really has been enjoying this team because he believes they can get better. One thing is for sure, if LA wants to continue to make noise they need to improve on closing out games.

“There’s a lot of things we can certainly improve upon, special teams.”

LA had a big lead, 30-7, but ended up letting the Saints back in the game, so the final was 30-22. Allowing teams to get back into games is not usually going to lead to wins in the NFL, but it worked this week (it actually worked against the Washington Commanders last week too).

Hopefully LA can clean that up, but for now the Rams get the win and they can enjoy the upcoming holiday before they have to get ready for Week 17 against the New York Giants.

“Players are making plays…we gotta be able to continue to reset.”

The coach is then asked about running back Williams and his impact on the team. McVay is clear and basically expresses that they have seen enough to say that he makes this team better. That is no longer a question and Kyren does appear to be the feature back for the Rams right now. It doesn’t look like a fluke.

“We’re different when he plays.”

It’s a team game, so McVay praises more than one player and more than one side of the ball. The Rams played well enough together to earn the win, and it’s exciting to think that LA has players to build with for seasons to come.

“There’s so many guys on this team that…man, they are exactly what we are looking for in Rams.”

The Rams appear to have a foundation that can lead to winning football. No wonder the coach is so happy.

“It’s been a lot fun.”

That concludes our discussion. With two games remaining in the regular season, McVay and his team have improved to 8-7 on the year. LA has finally risen above.500 for the first time since they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 1-0 in Week One.

The Rams have a legitimate shot at making the postseason, but regardless of how things work out, supporters and the club should be proud of having a team that, for the most part, appears prepared to compete.

With a competitive team, you will not win every game, but you will have an opportunity to win every one. It makes sense why McVay has adored this squad for the whole season.
