What source close to Aston Villa’s dressing room is now saying about Ollie Watkins’ training displays

Ollie Watkins has received praise from a person close to the Aston Villa locker room for his training performances.

Under Unai Emery’s tutelage, Ollie Watkins has had an incredible start to the season, scoring 14 goals in 24 games.

The 27-year-old has grown into one of the league’s most impressive strikers, and his team, Aston Villa, is presently atop the standings.

Watkins has consistently received praise for his work ethic off the ball, and Gary Lineker is the most recent to compliment the striker for it.

The Englishman netted his ninth goal of the Premier League season in the 2-1 win at Brentford on Sunday.

Now, The Athletic has shared what a source close to Villa’s dressing room has said about his performances in training recently.

Watkins described as one of Villa’s hardest-working players in training

According to The Athletic, Watkins is one of Villa’s ‘most conscientious and hardest’ trainers.

It’s noted that the striker works ‘relentlessly’ with Villa staff members to reach these levels behind the scenes.

Yet, the outlet also claims that there is hope at Villa that he could yet continue to improve.

Watkins has never been faulted in terms of his work ethic and desire at Villa. But there was a spell where he struggled to take his chances regularly.

But since Emery came through the door back in November last year, his improvements in the final third have been evident.

The former Brentford man is entering his prime years and Villa will undoubtedly be excited over the level he could reach in the near future.

The Villains have been the surprise package in the league this season and Emery has helped to get the best out of a host of players. And Watkins’ development under the Spaniard has been key to their success over the past year.
