The Midlands team is only one point behind league leaders Arsenal as they occupy the third spot in the Premier League standings.

Unai Emery does not want to weaken his squad in the midst of the season because they are presently competing for the championship.

The Villa manager wants Lenglet to remain because he believes his experience will be useful in the second half of the season.

Whether Villa can persuade Lenglet and Barcelona to stick together for the remainder of the campaign is an open question.
