Aston Villa now want to sign 20-year-old Championship player after Wolves had £15m bid rejected

Aston Villa reportedly hold an interest in signing Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe, after Wolves had a bid rejected for the forward over the summer.

After an unexpected start to the Premier League season, Unai Emery will be eager to add players to his roster in the upcoming month.

After 17 games, the Villains are only one point behind league leaders Arsenal.

Up until now, Aston Villa has been the league’s surprise gift, with Emery surpassing expectations at Villa Park.

However, in order to sustain a surprise title assault, they will need to bolster their roster, and it appears that they are considering a move for Jonathan Rowe.

Villa want to sign Rowe

The Sun reports that Villa are interested in snapping up Rowe, with Norwich braced for more interest in the youngster.

Indeed, Wolves had a £15 million bid for Rowe knocked back over the summer.

Despite Norwich’s financial struggles, they are reluctant to sell the 20-year-old next month.

Rowe has netted 11 goals in all competitions for David Wagner’s men this term. 10 of these goals have come in the Championship, while he has also provided two assists.

The Englishman clearly has a bright future ahead of him and has impressed at Carrow Road this season.

While Villa fans will be hoping for a more high-profile signing to aid their surprise title push, Rowe would represent a smart piece of business.

With his immense potential and ability to play off either flank, the young player might offer Emery some good cover.

He’s demonstrated a good eye for goal as well, and Villa could use some more offensive punch from the bench.

Nevertheless, given that Norwich is now only five points out of the Championship play-off spots, it would be surprising to see them offload Rowe in January.
