Arsenal sent £100m Aston Villa message after Declan Rice transfer

The most recent information on Aston Villa’s transfer situation is that Arsenal has been informed of the approximate cost to recruit Douglas Luiz during the January transfer window.

Arsenal has been informed that if they want to recruit Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa during the January transfer window, they will need to pay a sum comparable to what they paid for Declan Rice.

Rice was acquired by the Gunners for a total of £105 million from West Ham in the summer, and Mikel Arteta has found him to be a valuable asset thus far this season. However, Arsenal is still being linked to a deal for Luiz.

The Brazilian has been a main player in Villa’s rise up the Premier League table this season. The 25-year-old has five goals and two assists in his 15 appearances. He has started every league game so far but misses Sunday afternoon’s clash against Brentford due to a yellow card suspension.

Former Premier League midfielder Joe Cole has now told Arsenal how much it would cost them should they make a move. The former Chelsea man points to three summer transfers, including Rice to Arsenal as a guideline.

“If you’re looking at the price tag around them (Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes), it has got to be in the ballpark,” he said on TNT Sports. “He has been performing in the same league as them, performing better than Caicedo, arguably.

Prior to the January transfer window, Luiz addressed rumors regarding his future and stated that his entire attention is on Villa. He told Sky Sports, “I am here at Aston Villa and I am very happy to hear the stories.”

“I’m fully focused on this. I glance at the tales occasionally but not for very long. I see them, but I don’t pay much attention to them or check them frequently. I’m thinking here, at Aston Villa.
