100%’ – Ally McCoist makes Rangers star Player Transfer Admission as Newcastle Move Mooted

Ally McCoist expresses concern that teams may want to purchase Rangers’ Jack Butland in the summer, speculating that Newcastle United would make an attempt in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old Butland has been playing exceptionally well for the Light Blues this season, taking over the number one spot that Allan McGregor vacated at the beginning of the summer.

Although McCoist believes he is the biggest addition the team has made this year, his main concern right now is that wealthy Premier League teams will want to sign him in the summer.

With Nick Pope injured, McCoist worries Newcastle could be in for Butland next month.

“I want him to sign one of those eight-year contracts with Chelsea,” McCoist stated on Viaplay on Sunday, December 17, at 02:31 p.m. “I’ll settle for a Todd Boehly contract; get him one.”

“There’s no denying that he has been amazing.”

McCoist responded, “Oh, 100%,” when asked if other teams would be keeping an eye on Butland in anticipation of a possible transfer. Just take a look at what’s going on at Manchester United and, oh the irony, over the road at Celtic. Onana is facing a few challenges. Newcastle has injured Nick Pope. These guys will try to get stronger given their financial situation.

“I hope it doesn’t happen but he’s been absolutely top-class. He really has.”

Newcastle are a concern

It wouldn’t shock us if Newcastle do have a look at Butland in the January transfer window.

Pope has been ruled out for four months due to a dislocated shoulder [Sky Sports] he sustained earlier in December.

After keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Manchester United, Newcastle conceded three to Everton and four to Tottenham without the England international in goals.

They will obviously struggle without Pope, who will now miss a significant portion of the season.

It’s absurd to believe that Manchester United and Crystal Palace didn’t see enough value in Butland, who has been fantastic at Ibrox, and that Palace let him go for free.

However, their loss is our gain, so if a deal is made for him in January, we’ll need to be extremely tenacious in rejecting it.

If Butland has any chance of making the England team for the 2024 European Championship, he might be open to returning to his native country.

If he is playing in Scotland, it is unlikely that he will be able to accomplish that.
