David Ornstein responds directly to 777 Partners Everton takeover after ‘industry rumours’

C with fears emerging that the Toffees could fall into administration should the Miami-based firm fail to continue to support them into the new year.

777 Partners have repeatedly insisted that they expect to complete their takeover before the end of 2023 and according to Ornstein, they believe that takeover remains on track despite the recent media speculation.

Writing in his weekly Athletic Q&A (14 December) he said: ” Industry rumours abound, but the noises from Everton and 777 suggest they believe the takeover remains on track.

“We will, of course, stay across this on The Athletic.”

Any Everton supporters who are trying to keep across every detail of this potential takeover are likely beginning to feel a bit dizzy as it feels as though with each passing day there is a new development involving 777 and their purchase of the Toffees.

However, Ornstein’s latest comments suggest that the recent speculation linking Everton with administration and potential further points deductions may be nothing more than “industry rumours” so at least that can come as a source of relief for Everton fans.

Time is running out for 777’s deal to be completed before the end of the year and should it occur any later, the Miami-based firm will have been wrong in their suggestion that the entire process of the deal remains completely on track.

Some would argue that if it takes this long to decide whether or not somebody is a fit and proper owner capable of financially supporting a club, they probably aren’t. This process has now dragged on for months with seemingly no process being made.

Everton supporters are the ones being left in the dark and they need a resolution sooner rather than later. Hopefully, Ornstein is correct and an answer will arrive before the end of the year.
