Unai Emery spotted in Spain watching club after Aston Villa agreement – Social trip despite busy schedule

After Real Unión struck a collaboration arrangement with Aston Villa earlier this month, Unai Emery, the manager of the Villains, was spotted in Spain attending the match in person.

El Diario Vasco reports that Emery, who owns the Basque team with his brother, was recently in attendance to see the match versus Osasuna Promesas.

The newspaper explains that the Aston Villa coach attended the game alongside his brother Igor Emery, who is president at the club, the Sports delegate of the City Council Borja Olazabal and the woman who is set to be appointed as the new mayor of Irun, Cristina Laborda.

They say that Emery was seemingly in good spirits as he stopped to take photos with fans before, during and after the game which he watched from the Stadium Gal box.

The visit appears to have been a social one for the Aston Villa boss, although the recent agreement between Unión and Villa does mean that they will ‘collaborate’ in areas of performance, scouting and recruitment, data analysis and squad management.

It’s unclear if that implies that certain players will switch between the two sides.

We’re only speculating, but given the huge difference between Aston Villa and Unión right now, it’s more likely that Villa youngsters will be transferred to Spain than that anyone will show up at Villa Park.

In any case, Emery seems to be doing his assignments and taking a break from his hectic schedule at Villa Park to make sure his other team isn’t being overlooked.
