Unai Emery says he would have loved to have player Man City let go in 2020 at Aston Villa now

Unai Emery has said that if there is one Premier League legend he would love to have in his current Aston Villa team, it would be David Silva.

In an interview with the Premier League on their official YouTube channel, the former Villareal boss briefly heaped praise on Silva.

Even Mikel Arteta hailed his fellow countryman as “one of the best players” he has ever seen play the beautiful game.

Unai Emery says he would have loved David Silva in his Aston Villa team

Martin Odegaard lists the Spanish maestri as one of his main childhood inspirations, demonstrating the hero status of this individual.

The 37-year-old is “amazing to play with,” according to Alexander Isak, who shared a dressing room with him at Real Sociedad. He also stressed that a number of players should try to study how he sets his body before receiving the ball.

Even though Unai Emery’s Aston Villa team is winning the Premier League, he stated that David Silva is the player he would have most loved to have at Villa Park.

“David Silva, because he was magic”, he said on the Premier League’s official YouTube channel.

David Silva would have been brilliant under the Spanish tactician

Some people might believe that David Silva, who is known for his graceful style of play, is the opposite of the hardworking mentality Unai Emery has ingrained at Aston Villa.

But this very assumption would be a case of misremembering the World Cup winner’s transition under Pep Guardiola into a nuisance in the middle of midfield.

Silva was allowed to be his elegant self under Guardiola, but he also improved his pushing and defensive work rate by adding another feather to his cap.

Under Unai Emery, the former Valencia master would do similarly and be able to play in midfield or in John McGinn’s hybrid role as a left winger who joins in midfield.

The allure of David Silva was his ability to perform admirably for any team—club or national, dominant at the top or attempting to compete in the Champions League—at any point throughout the game.
