Arsenal stand “no chance” of signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the upcoming January

transfer window, it has been claimed.

The Brazilian has been widely linked with a move to Arsenal for the last few transfer

windows, with reports accelerating again

in recent weeks. Luiz has been a standout for Villa under Unai Emery, and it looks like there is good

news for Villans heading into the new year.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, there is “no chance” that Arsenal will sign Luiz this winter.

He also claims to have been told the Gunners will not make a move for the midfielder and that

he is not of the profile that the north London club are after.

Ornstein stated on The Athletic Football Podcast: “Douglas Luiz has a new contract, but there is always

speculation about him.”

“People I speak to of an Arsenal persuasion dispute that they’re going to go for him, or that

he’s the profile that everyone inside the club wants.”

This season, Luiz has made 15 appearances for Villa in the Premier League, netting five goals and dishing out another two.

He has not yet been dismissed after receiving two yellow cards.
