Unai Emery provides Leon Bailey update after Aston Villa worry

The winger helped Aston Villa defeat Arsenal on Saturday, and at halftime, Moussa Diaby took his place. This is the most recent information available.

Leon Bailey was substituted off against Arsenal at halftime, and Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has stated that he hopes the player is not injured.

Bailey assisted John McGinn’s goal against the Gunners after scoring the game-winning goal against Man City on Wednesday. That turned out to be the deciding factor between the two teams.

During the first half, Bailey showed some signs of discomfort. When he didn’t emerge from the tunnel for the second half, after being replaced by Moussa Diaby, it raised concerns among the Villa faithful over a potential injury.

Bailey has been in scintillating form since working his way back into the starting line-up this season. In the last eight games in the Premier League, he has scored three pals and provided three assists. Of those eight, there are just two games where he has neither scored nor assisted.

Whether the winger will be ready to play in Thursday night’s Europa Conference League matchup against Zrinjski is still up in the air. Villa will play their first Premier League match in a week on Sunday at the G-tech Community Stadium against Brentford (2pm kickoff).

Since joining Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2021, Bailey has experienced his fair share of injury issues. However, he has only missed one league game this season—the 6-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in September.
