Following Aston Villa’s historic back-to-back wins against Manchester City and Arsenal, manager Unai Emery has spoken up about his decision to bench Moussa Diaby in recent weeks.

The Villans are now in third place in the Premier League after an incredible season under head coach Unai Emery.

The Villans got off to a strong start in the first half of the season, and the season has been excellent overall.

There have been numerous memorable performances, ranging from celebrities like Diego Carlos in the past to Leon Bailey in the present.

In recent weeks there have been some changes to the side which has helped to secure wins over the league’s elite. The club’s record signing has seen his game time limited such as been the form of his replacements.

What has Unai Emery said about Moussa Diaby?

After making a record-breaking transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, Moussa Diaby has made an incredible start to the season. Having said that, he has played fewer minutes after experiencing a decline in form.

Even though he has played fewer minutes, Emery has said that this is more likely the result of tactical considerations than form.

In an interview with Birmingham World, he revealed more about that. “Yeah, it’s tactical because we were practicing and trying to build the team with a different structure,” he remarked in reference to Diaby.

“We made our decision in Bournemouth initially, then on Wednesday, and again today with the same mix.attempting to gain a favourable position on the field, exert influence over the game, and compete.

It must be said that his dropping out in place of Youri Tielemans for these fixtures in recent weeks has definitely helped. Having more control over the midfield and having the Frenchman as a substitute option has been effective.

Diaby came on against Arsenal at halftime and played his part as the Villans saw out their 1-0 lead and secured three points.

“It was normal to repeat the same XI after the match we played on Wednesday,” Emery continued regarding the forwards’ appearance. I watched the game today, and in order to switch up my guys, I had to be really strategic. But Moussa has me completely content. His forty-five minutes today were

wonderful.

It’s evident that the Villa manager thinks highly of his record-breaking acquisition, and we’ll be seeing more of him in forthcoming games. Bailey’s form has contributed, but it has also been crucial to maximise his team.
