Celtic confirm new 4-year contract for ‘major player’<\/h1>\n

The center defender has reached new agreements to stay at Celtic Park for an additional year, with the club having the option.<\/p>\n

Scales, who has played in 50 games this season and has occasionally donned the captain’s armband in Callum McGregor’s absence, has been a crucial player for Celtic at center back.<\/p>\n

Scales’ contract extension was announced just one day after James Forrest’s new one-year contract with the team was finalized.<\/p>\n

Speaking after signing his new deal, Scales said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to commit for another few years here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing club and I\u2019ve grown to love it. I feel a real part of it now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really enjoy myself here, I love my life here in Scotland and it was good for all parties to get this done.<\/p>\n

“I’m hopeful that the upcoming years will be my best.<\/p>\n

“I’ve played for Ireland and the club in almost 150 games, so I feel like I have the game experience now.”<\/p>\n

“Everything is coming together nicely, and I just want to keep going in the right direction for the next few years.”<\/p>\n

Martin O’Neill added: \u201cI\u2019m delighted for him and delighted for the club because I think Liam\u2019s been outstanding, and since I\u2019ve been here, he\u2019s been absolutely terrific.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a better team when he\u2019s in and he\u2019s also got the ability to play left-back, and I think it\u2019s good news for the club because he\u2019s always there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like him a lot and I think he\u2019s been a major player for us this season.\u201d<\/p>\n
