Arsenal could make late swoop for Amadou Onana

Arsenal might try to sign Amadou Onana in the last minute.

Arsenal may make a last-minute move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana before the transfer market ends the next week, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Over the past several weeks, the 22-year-old has been connected to the Gunners, and Tavolieri recently revealed that the midfielder would be open to joining the team.

The same journalist has now disclosed that Financial Fair Play has destroyed Arsenal’s prospects of acquiring the Belgian star.

If Arsenal is able to make a last-minute sale in order to recover some transfer cash, Tavolieri thinks a deal could still happen before the transfer deadline.

Unexpected maneuver

With 43 points, Arsenal is presently 5 points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League. They are currently playing Porto in the Champions League round of sixteen.

Manager Mikel Arteta may seek financial support to improve the team before the window closes, but the Gunners still have a chance to finish the season strong with a trophy.

Before the deadline, a versatile midfielder would be a wise addition. Onana often plays at the number six, although when necessary, he can also fill a slightly advanced role.Under Arteta, he could reach new heights and realize his potential at Arsenal with better players surrounding him. Onana is a formidable opponent in tackles and duels.

He also has an excellent work rate and has mastered the art of dribbling in confined places. Although it still needs work, his passing could get better against a possession-based team like Arsenal.

Everton is seeking to sell their valued asset for about £50 million, and an agreement for a late winter transfer for Arsenal may depend on them recovering a portion of the money through player sales.

That doesn’t seem likely to happen right now, but if Arsenal approves any departures, things might alter in the next few days. On deadline day, Everton might reject a trade because they might want a substitute.
