Former Rangers star reflects on ‘big ask’ after signing with club as he makes ‘no regrets’ claim

After joining the team, the former Rangers player considers his “big ask” and declares he has “no regrets.”

Former Rangers winger Jake Hastie found it difficult to live up to the expectations placed on him upon his arrival at Ibrox in the summer of 2019.

During his adolescent years, he was considered a promising player in Scottish football due to his remarkable record of six goals in 14 games for Motherwell.

Hastie played a total of three years with Rangers without making a Premiership appearance due to loan outs to clubs such as Rotherham United, Motherwell, Patrick Thistle, and Linfield.

In the summer of 2022, the former PFA Young Player of the Year nominee finally left Ibrox to finalize a permanent transfer to League 2 team Hartlepool United. His two outings for the Gers in all competitions were as a substitute in the League Cup against East Fife and as a starter in a Europa League qualifier against minnows St. Joseph’s.

Hastie had the agony of relegation in his first season, but he went on to establish himself as a first team player in the North of England last season. He returned to Scottish football six months after being demoted, and he will now try to resurrect his career with Hamilton Accies, a team in League One.

The winger says he has no regrets about joining Rangers and instead looks back with fondness on his time at Glasgow and the lessons he took away from the team.
