Rangers twist as £2.5m update emerges on new attacker transfer – report- Ibrox News

Rangers now want to sign English defender in deadline-busting transfer – report

Rangers yet to make contact with Vitesse over Million Manhoef as transfer news emerges.

Despite strong interest, Rangers have not gotten in touch with Vitesse Arnhem regarding Million Manhoef’s signing, according to Football Scotland.

Despite the player being linked to a move to Ibrox this month, the publication said [24 January] that the Gers had not yet presented their alleged plan of a £2.5 million offer.

After emerging from the Vitesse youth, the 22-year-old winger has been a rising star for the team, amassing 16 goals and 14 assists in 87 games since August 2020.

Much-needed reinforcements

Philippe Clement is dying for a goal-hungry forward, with several of his players injured, including Kemar Roofe, Danilo and Abdallah Sima.

The news of the latter’s injury recently has devastated Rangers. Since coming to Ibrox in the summer, the Brighton loanee has made a big impression, tallying 15 goals in 33 games.

And given the Seagulls’ penchant for finding hidden talents, it makes sense that the team would be anticipating Sima’s summer return to England even in the absence of the injury.

But Rangers may have just done that too, only if they can complete the signing of Manhoef from the Netherlands. The youngster already has 10 caps for the Netherlands U21s and is 13 games shy of a century of Vitesse appearances.

With just four goals this season, he is tied for the top scorer for Vitesse. That, however, has less to do with him and more to do with the club’s season. With just 12 points from 18 games played, the Dutch team is presently bottom of the Eredivisie. It might be challenging to pry him away at this point in the challenging season.

With their top two and fourth goal scorers sidelined and their primary goal threat on the sidelines, Rangers cannot afford to rely solely on their captain, James Tavernier, who has already scored 17 goals this season, to lead the team to victory.
