The Scotland international has been informed that he has no future at Arsenal and will be available on a free transfer next summer.
According to Michael Stewart, Celtic have a strong chance of bringing Kieran Tierney back to Parkhead. He also feels that Brendan Rodgers would be wise to sign former Hoops player Jota at a reduced price in January.
Tierney, a Scotland defender, has been dropped from Arsenal’s first team by manager Mikel Arteta. With only six months left on his contract, he can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England starting January 1.Arsenal may consider selling Tierney during the upcoming transfer window, and commentator Stewart believes he could return to Celtic permanently.
Stewart suggests that Celtic could try to re-sign Jota from Rennes if he is available for a quarter of the price he received when sold to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in 2023. On the Premier Sports Scottish Football Social Club, he stated, “There has been so much rumour and chat about Kieran Tierney with six months left on his contract.” My instinct tells me Kieran Tierney would be interested in returning to Celtic. I honestly believe he would. Could this happen in January? I wouldn’t disregard it.”
There’s also some murmur and conversation regarding Jota at Stade Rennais. The new manager has come in and appears to believe that Jota is not entirely fit, but that he is a vital player. These types of players for that sort of money you can possibly acquire them for, they are few and far between.
“What is the quality of Kieran Tierney on a free transfer? Jota for £5–6 million? There aren’t many players available that have a connection to the club and understand what it’s about. As much as you want to go and find new talent, these guys are still young and hungry. Jota is 25 and Tierney is 27 so these are still young players that have got many, many good years ahead of them.

Darrell Currie, the host and veteran broadcast journalist, added: “I know Kieran well and have spoken with him several times over the years. and how many times he has expressed a desire to return at some point in his professional career. It just feels like the stars are aligning slightly here.”
