Bruins’ Unusual Scheduling Quirk Could Help Build Division Lead
Boston — The Boston Bruins are hoping to win the Atlantic Division of the NHL for the second year in a row, and a strange scheduling conflict in their 2023–2024 campaign could make it possible.
They could actually escape with the division far sooner than anyone had thought.
The Bruins are now on a run of games that will see them play 12 of 14 at TD Garden. So far, things have gone well for them.
On January 15, they defeated the New Jersey Devils, beginning a winning run of four games that will carry them into Wednesday night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Although it has resulted in nothing but victories thus far, there are others who dislike the lengthy schedule of home games.
The schedule wasn’t to everyone’s taste, as head coach Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins admitted on Tuesday. We made an effort to rotate
games so there weren’t as many. That’s a big amount, but we try to approach each game as it comes, and the All-Star break helps tremendously.
The quantity of home games is something we have never discussed. I hope that whatever you guys discuss stays out of our changing room.
The monotony will be broken up soon enough, as the Bruins will head out for a short two-game road trip following Wednesday’s contest that will
see them visit the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers. It’s right back to Boston after that two-game-in-three-day stretch, however, which some are happy about.
“If the guys didn’t know, the girlfriends certainly do. I can tell you that,” Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm joked, speaking with reporters Tuesday. ” No, we’re aware. I don’t think we look that far ahead. I think we look at it one game at a time.
Spending time at home with friends and family will undoubtedly be enjoyable, and we always enjoy performing for the world’s greatest audience. We would play every game of the year at home if we could.
The Bruins will play a ridiculous seven games in a row at TD Garden upon their return, starting with a divisional clash against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Boston now leads the division by seven points, a gap that might grow significantly when the other teams in the division start to lose to one another.
The Bruins are in a good position, and by the middle of February, they might be leading the league.
