Troy Aikman drops truth bomb on Cowboys’ 2023 campaign — ‘Same old story’

The Dallas Cowboys concluded the season in typical manner for the team. After yet another season with great expectations, Dallas was eliminated in

the first round despite having an excellent defense and skillful offense. Speaking about the Cowboys’ 2023 playoff run, former quarterback Troyo

Aikman made reference to the usual expectations and disappointing conclusion to the Dallas season each year.

“It’s the same old story and I don’t mean that as a criticism,” said Aikman, per Calvin Watkins at The Dallas Morning News. “It’s just when I’m asked

about the Cowboys as to why they have struggled, they’ve put together some really great regular seasons and they just have not for whatever reasons

[played] their best football when the games matters most. That’s what you have to do. That’s the key to winning in the postseason and then getting into the Super Bowl. What the answer to that is, I’m not sure.”

A widely circulated statistic in the NFL community claims that the Houston Texans have defeated the Cowboys in the postseason since their 2022

season opener. Since 2002, the Cowboys have won four postseason games while the Texans have won five. Dallas always appears to put on amazing

shows throughout the regular season, but their performances don’t carry over to the January games.

While the Cowboys did make it to the postseason in 2022, they don’t usually go through the first round in Dallas.

The Cowboys are expected to hoist up the Super Bowl trophy every year, and they haven’t even come close to that in the last 20 years.
