Four arrested after two men attacked outside Drake’s Circus in Plymouth

Four men have been arrested following an alleged serious assault in Plymouth city centre. Devon and Cornwall Police said two men were taken to hospital with injuries after the reported attack yesterday morning (Sunday, December 29).

The serious assault took place on Old Town Street, outside Drake’s Circus shopping centre, at around 4.25am. A man, aged in his 20s, was involved in an argument with a group of men before being punched and hit in the face.

A second man, aged in his 30s, came to help the first victim but was kicked and stamped on by the group. Both men were taken to Derriford Hospital but their injuries are not described as life-changing or threatening.

The alleged attackers fled the scene before a police hunt was launched. Officers soon found four men in the Mayflower Street area and King Street.

It was reported that one of the suspects was in possession of a knife. However, police have confirmed that no knife was located.
