Rangers: Philippe Clement issues surgery update on ‘really unlucky’ Kieran Dowell at Ibrox.

Rangers star Kieran Dowell underwent surgery, and Philippe Clement has disclosed that the procedure went well.

The Gers manager described the 26-year-old as “really unlucky” during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, January 23, via the Rangers Review. This happened because during the team’s most recent trip to La Manga, his studs got trapped in the grass on the training pitch.

The English midfielder’s surgery went well, but he added that the player will be sidelined for “quite a long time” as the injuries start to pile up at Ibrox once more.

“Kieran was really unlucky that he stuck in the grass on a bad pitch,” said Clement. “He will be out quite a long time normally. He had his operation, everything went well. That is positive also that the operation went well.”

Blow

This is yet another blow for Rangers after Clement also revealed that Abdallah Sima faces a lengthy period on the sidelines after picking up an injury while away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

That implies that if the Gers don’t sign some new players before the January transfer window ends, they will be short-staffed in a few areas throughout the course of the next few months.

Hearing that Dowell would be sidelined for a lengthy amount of time after missing many months prior to Christmas will be quite disappointing.

Since joining the Light Blues over the summer from Norwich City, an English Championship team, the midfielder has only made 11 appearances.

After this most recent setback, he will be trying to return to full fitness as soon as possible to support his team’s efforts to win more championships this year.
