Saints interview a pair of San Francisco 49ers assistants for OC job. Here’s the latest.

Two San Francisco 49ers assistants have been interviewed by the New Orleans Saints for the open offensive coordinator post.

In an attempt to replace Pete Carmichael, the Saints spoke with pass game coordinator Klint Kubiak and quarterbacks coach Brian Griese of the 49ers.

Griese, a former NFL quarterback, joined Shanahan’s staff in San Francisco in 2022. The 48-year-old previously had no coaching experience, instead

serving as a color commentator for ESPN. But since getting into coaching, Griese has helped guide Brock Purdy — Mr. Irrelevant in 2022 — to become San Francisco’s starter.

Kubiak, meanwhile, is the son of former NFL coach Gary Kubiak. Klint Kubiak also has previous experience as an offensive coordinator.

He called plays in Minnesota during the 2021 season — a year the Vikings ranked 12th in yards, 14th in points, 11th in passing and 17th in rushing.

Klint Kubiak, who is only 36 years old, has also coached quarterbacks for the Denver Broncos (2022) and the Vikings (2019–2020). This past season, he became a member of San Francisco’s coaching staff.
