on striker
The Ibrox manager has answered queries about the most recent hiring activity and the rumors involving
his team.
As speculation about Ibrox persists, Philippe Clement has emphasized that Rangers are considering
every transfer option.
For an estimated £4.5 million, Mohamed Diomande is expected to join the midfield, and Fabio Silva has
already strengthened the striker lineup by bringing in Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves through the
conclusion of the campaign. Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland has been the subject of intense
speculation this month as an Ibrox target, but when asked directly if any significant movement had been
made, Clement referred to the choices he already had.
He insisted Rangers are evaluating each of their options. Clement said: “It is the same as the first
question. I am not speaking about positions or what we want. There are also strikers in the building.
Fabio showed already good things, Cyriel if you look at the statistics he has at the moment, he is in a
good way also. We will see what targets we will take in the transfer market and what the possibilities
are.”
Clement was also asked if he’d be confident if he didn’t add to his current squad. And his answer was
clear: “No. Because that was not the idea of the club. I am confident that we will do the things that we are
all aligned on.”
Talk then shifted to Diomande’s fee and whether that expenditure would mean a need for loan signings.
While avoiding that question, Clement insists they are looking for players in the here and now, plus the
long-term. He added ahead of his side’s clash at Hibs on Wednesday on Premiership business: “You
know already I am never going to respond to that question. It is clear we have these discussions with the
board, the investors, what is possible, what is not possible when we come with names and we make
decisions around that.
“Everybody is very ambitious to let the team grow, to make the team better and to make the right
transfers. For short term, to help the team in the next six months. For long term to get an investment
back, for players to come in and have an impact but grow also and be part of the club that you can sell.
“That is something else to consider. We talk about all the many factors that need to be considered at all
times. For this reason, January has short nights, and I am always glad when February arrives.”
