Ibrox View: Rangers must hurry January transfer exit as ‘number one’ target update emerges -Ibrox News

Rangers must hurry January exit for Ridvan Yilmaz as ‘number one’ transfer update emerges at Galatasaray.

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz is still Galatasaray’s “number one” left-back target in the January transfer window, despite a lot of contradictory rumors, according to Kutlu Akpinar.

The full-back for the Light Blues is still the top goal for the European powerhouses this month as they try to bolster their defense in the last parts of the window, the Turkish journalist told Tibu Spor on Monday, January 22.

This month, Yilmaz has been linked to several exits. Hellas Verona and Galatasaray are both interested in the 22-year-old, and the Turkish giant made the lone bid for him during the January transfer window [Mustafa Ozgur Sancar, 22 January].

However, it now seems that Galatasaray is still intent on getting Yilmaz to sign, despite earlier reports that they were not applying “intense pressure” to complete the transaction [Nevzat Dindar, 22 January].

Although it had appeared like Galatasaray had lost interest in Yilmaz in recent days, Akpinar’s most recent report indicates that the Turkish powerhouses are still hoping to sign the 22-year-old this month.

Teams will need to make additional decisions about transfers as the deadline for signing players approaches, and Galatasaray may decide to push for Yilmaz’s signature in the last hours of the window.

Rangers may be reluctant to cash in on a player who has worked his way into Philippe Clement’s plans, especially in a position where they are

already incredibly short of options but, if the Turkish giants submit a reasonable offer, they may well have to accept it.

But the Light Blues can’t let this high-profile exit happen so soon before the window closes because it might make it harder for them to recruit a replacement and spend the money that Yilmaz’s selling brought in.

The Gers cannot afford to enter the second half of the season with just one established left-back, so if they don’t move promptly on this transaction, their chances of putting up a strong fight for the Scottish Premiership title will be severely damaged.

With reports surfacing that Galatasaray still regards him as their “number one” target, this deal appears to be one that will rumble on until the end of the window and might go either way.
