Patrice Bergeron, a longstanding centre and former captain of the Boston Bruins, has once again refuted the unfounded rumour that he intends to come out of retirement and rejoin the team.
Over the weekend, Bergeron told Joshua Clipperton of the Canadian Press, “No, it is not happening.”
“I’m not trying to make a comeback; I’m not making a comeback.”
Bergeron admitted that it seemed odd that he wasn’t getting ready for
another season as training camp for the 2023–24 regular season drew
near, but he knew at the time and still feels that retiring last July was the
best decision for him and his family.

University and the NHL, responded. However, it seems like he has been circling around here for a short while.
We now learn that he skates a little in order to maintain his fitness for the alumni games.
Which Bissonnette responds, “I didn’t believe.”
Whitney said, “Which means you’re probably 20 years younger than most of the guys playing in the alumni games.”
He is a professional, though. He may be a workhorse, but can you image the Bruins supporters if Patrice Bergeron is
skating around and considering a potential comeback in February?
Just to make sure that this was only a rumor, this puck scribe called two sources close to Bergeron on Wednesday afternoon.
The first insider said, “That’s pretty funny, but no, not happening.” “I would be in complete shock. If that’s the true
reason behind his skating, rather than the ones mentioned, he’s doing a fantastic job of hiding it.
The source posed a rhetorical question, saying, “Do you know how bad he probably wanted to come back and redeem
himself and the team, and yet he still retired?” Why continue to retire and then decide to change your mind? “Bergy”
doesn’t seem to want to follow in Brett Favre’s footsteps. He respects the game and himself far too much.
Patrice Bergeron has stated often in public appearances since announcing his retirement in July of last year that he is content with his choice.
“I’m doing well right now. I’m content. I’m confident that it was the best choice for my family and me,” Bergeron
stated to The Athletic on November 22.
Both the tranquilly and the time his family currently gets to spend with him were earned by Bergeron. Bergeron is a
man of his word, at least according to how I came to know him while covering his whole Boston Bruins career.
Just my two cents, but maybe the boys at Spittin Chiclets owe Bergeron and the hockey world an apology?
