Hull City’s relegation rivals sack another manager after defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United

Recent defeats by Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United all contributed to the end of the line for Narcis Pelach as manager of Stoke City.

Stoke City fired head coach Catalan Pelach after only 19 games, following a 2-0 loss to the Owls on Boxing Day. Pelach, who was appointed in September at the age of 36, had only won three of the 18 league games he was in charge of. His departure leaves Stoke in 19th place in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.

Sporting director Jon Walters said the club’s official website: “Narcis is a talented coach with enormous potential; he works tirelessly, and I have no doubt that he will be successful in the future.”

“However, with the way results and performances have been in recent weeks, we have to accept with hindsight that he has proved not to be the right fit for this club at this time.”I accept full responsibility and am certain that we will make the right decision to move on. “Every decision we make is driven by our love of Stoke City and absolute determination to bring success to the club.”

The Potters, who have lost five of their past six league games and drawn one, are yet to reveal the composition of their coaching staff for Sunday’s encounter against high-flying Sunderland.
