Sporting director Jon Walters said the club’s official website: “Narcis is a talented coach with enormous potential; he works tirelessly, and I have no doubt that he will be successful in the future.”
“However, based on recent results and performances, we must accept that he is not the right fit for this club at this time.”
“I take full responsibility for that and I’m absolutely determined that we will now make the right choice to take us forward.”
Stoke, who have only one point from their past six league games, have yet to reveal their coaching staff for Sunday’s match against high-flying Sunderland.
