Everton open to selling Dyche favourite this month amid interest from rival club – report

Everton set Amadou Onana asking price as Newcastle United refuse to give up on January transfer

The Telegraph claims that if Newcastle United meets Amadou Onana’s asking price, Everton would be willing to transfer the midfield player.

Everton values the Newcastle target at £50 million, according to an update published by Luke Edwards on Sunday, January 21, for the publication’s online edition.

While “Newcastle have not given up” on a transaction, Edwards continues, they would first need to sell someone for a high price in order to raise the money for the relocation this month.

Bournemouth’s Sam Billing, Nice’s Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach are named as possible alternatives to Onana.

No chance

Everton are in no immediate need to sell any players, let alone one of Sean Dyche’s favourites who has started 22 matches this season.

Should a £50m offer be tabled, it would of course give the Toffees something to think about.

That is highly unlikely to be the case, though, as Newcastle are severely restricted due to Profit and Sustainability Rules (welcome to our world!).

This transfer has very little chance of happening this month unless they can offload a player for almost the same amount.

Onana, a Belgium international, may be headed farther down the road given the interest he’s garnered from other Premier League teams.

In light of this, it’s likely that the team is planning a few potential summertime replacements already.

Even in that case, Everton must maintain their position and make sure Onana is not sold until his entire asking price is received, not a single cent less.
