Rhys McCabe discusses a possible Rangers comeback.

When asked if he would like to return to Ibrox, the gifted young manager gave an unequivocal personal “yes” in his remarks following the win.

However, the former Sheffield Wednesday player is also not blind to the attraction of a salary comparable to that of Celtic’s opponents in the fourth round, Buckie Thistle.

As a Rangers fan, McCabe remarked, “Of course (I’d love a return to Rangers), and there’s a part of me that would love Celtic as well.”

“We could get Bonnyrigg away and it is one of those kinds of draws, so I’m not too fussed

“It is one of these ones where we will be delighted whoever we get.

“I know from a club point of view, the owner will be praying for a big one away from home, from the financial side of it and a day out for the supporters.”

Eyeing a Scottish Cup run, Airdrie

Additionally, Rhys McCabe has been discussing the strategy of his Airdrie team, who finished last season in the Premiership playoffs despite presently holding the fourth-place position in the Scottish Championship.

The aggressive style of the second division team has already triumphed over Premiership opposition, and McCabe says he won’t alter it regardless of Airdrie’s opponent.

“We will approach the game with the same mentality regardless of who we play,” McCabe declared. “We’re going to play the same strategy and strive to win.

“It doesn’t matter if it was Real Madrid, Rangers, or Celtic—I play to win, and the boys will feel more confident after today’s performance.”

“We might get a little cup run if we can get someone [winnable].”

Rhys McCabe joined Rangers from the Academy and appeared in nine games for the team until the midfielder was sent to Sheffield Wednesday due to financial difficulties at the Gers.

Following stints in Irish football and the Scottish lower leagues, Rhys McCabe joined Airdrie in 2021 as a player and was named player/manager a year later.
