Rangers got sack decision spot on after what Sunderland fans did to Michael Beale last night

Rangers got sack decision spot on after what Sunderland fans did to Michael Beale last night.

Given that Sunderland supporters had already begun to turn against Michael Beale, Rangers made the right decision in firing him.

After being fired from his position at Ibrox on October 1st, the former manager of the Green Bay Packers was named the next manager of the English Championship team on December 18th, with a contract that ran through 2026.

Simon Bird observed how the Black Cats’ supporters turned against him when he suffered his fourth loss in just seven games since taking over at the Stadium of Light on Friday, January 19, following the 1-0 loss to Hull City.

The Daily Mail writer wrote that following Liverpool loanee Fabio Carvalho’s goal, which gave the Tigers all three points, the supporters could be heard chanting “We want Beale out..” They were also heard shouting “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” which is a common song repeated by the opposing fans.

Even though Sunderland is still in ninth place and is only two points out of the playoffs, their performances and results under Beale seem to trend in one direction.

One of those four losses was a humiliating 3-0 setback in the FA Cup third round on January 6 against bitter rivals Newcastle United, where his team hardly gave a fight at home.

That demonstrates why the Rangers were perfectly justified in firing Beale a few months into the new campaign because the team was losing and the results weren’t good enough.

As he had previously hinted at in brief moments while he was back in England, he found it difficult to convince his team to play on the main stage at Ibrox.

The Gers put on a brave show in the opening Old Firm match of the season, but they were humiliated in Eindhoven by PSV in the Champions League qualifying stages in August.

His time in Glasgow was brought to an end following a 3-1 defeat at home to Aberdeen – the Light Blues’ third loss in just seven SPFL games.

But they haven’t looked back since then under new boss Philippe Clement, with the only blip on his stunning record coming in the 2-1 defeat to Celtic on 30 December.

Under Beale, it would have been extremely unlikely that the Belgian would have vaulted Rangers back into the title fight, won the Viaplay Cup, and guaranteed their spot in the Europa League final stages.

Even while there are still questions about some of the summer recruits the Englishman brought in, he has been able to coax a song out of them at Ibrox.

The Gers are generally in much safer hands now than they were when Beale was the club’s manager.

There’s only one man who might be facing another firing, and it’s not Clement.
