Rangers update: Philippe Clement’s reveals transfer model wish, why he’d prefer to buy Fabio Silva and Ridvan Yilmaz situation addressed.

With five players having expiring contracts in the summer, Philippe Clement lamented the “crazy situation” and expressed his desire to see Rangers implement a better transfer plan.

At the end of the current campaign, first-team players Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, and Kemar Roofe will all be let go unless the Ibrox club extends an offer to them.

The sale of players such as defender Calvin Bassey to Ajax and midfielder Joe Aribo to Southampton – both in 2022 – and Glen Kamara to Leeds last summer has brought in over £30million, although the Govan club did not cash in on the likes of former attackers Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos when they were in top form. The Gers boss has only brought in Portuguese striker Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves so far in the January transfer window.

Prior to the Scottish Gas In light of Saturday’s 1pm pitch inspection for the Scottish Cup fourth-round match against Dumbarton, he was eager to discuss a more progressive transfer policy. “We have our plan and I feel like everyone is on the same page, that the club really wants to try to do things within the budget,” Clement stated. Having five players without contracts this season is absurd since it’s a waste of money. If the contract is terminated, they are no longer worth anything.

“I am aware that we are not the world’s wealthiest club. We want to bring in transfers who will not only benefit the team immediately but also build value over the course of the following few years and be able to command higher prices when sold.

The club has missed this one thing if you look over the last few years. They didn’t have many large outbound transfers, which prevented them from receiving funding for other endeavours. As odd as it seems for a manager to discuss that, that is one of the goals. I want to assist in that way so the club can develop holistically.

“I would prefer to buy Fabio but he was too expensive, that is why it is a loan now. It is getting a good balance in the squad, good experienced players and also young prospects that you can let grow to a higher level than Glasgow Rangers.

That is the objective. And you need to have players who are in contract. So there is a lot of work to be done in that way, everybody in the club is working hard in that way to have clear vision of how to bring money into the club by developing players but getting results also, winning trophies. You don’t have the situation where you have players of value going free at the end of contract – it can never happen.”

Clement was questioned once more regarding Ridvan Yilmaz, who supposedly informed the Belgian that he wanted to join Galatasaray instead of Rangers. The Ibrox manager emphasized that the 22-year-old Turkey left-back was dedicated to the cause, nevertheless.

“If he wasn’t committed, he wouldn’t have played in friendlies against Hertha or Copenhagen,” he stated. He wouldn’t be on the field if he wasn’t dedicated to the team and his duties here. I haven’t had the impression from any players yet that they are hurrying out of the building. Even though I think everyone is genuinely engaged in the club and what’s going on, anything can yet change in the future.
