Anis Ben Slimane plays down City disciplinary concerns | Norwich Evening News

Anis Ben Slimane has denied that Norwich City has a disciplinary issue, after Jose Cordoba’s Boxing Day ban.

The Panama international received his second yellow card during Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland, joining a growing list of City players who are presently suspended.

Kenny McLean is absent due to a retroactive FA charge for aggressive behavior, while Angus Gunn may miss the holiday match against Millwall due to a charge for kicking the replacements board during a 3-0 defeat at Loftus Road.

Cordoba was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Chris Rigg, but Slimane does not believe recent disciplinary concerns are indicative of a larger problem for City.

“To be honest, I do not believe we have a disciplinary issue. “I think the discipline and mentality are fine,” he remarked.

“It’s the winning mentality, and everyone wants to win.” When we don’t win, it produces dissatisfaction. We need to keep united and stick to our strategy.

“We know how difficult this league is and that we might be up 1-0, but if we turn off for five minutes, the opponents can score two goals. That is what occurred last week against Burnley, and it has happened again tonight.

“We need to be alert in every circumstance and every second we’re on the pitch. There is nothing more we can do. We have a busy agenda and must remain together. Hopefully, we can get three points next time.”

Slimane instead blamed City’s failure to Sunderland on their inability to maintain concentration throughout the game.

“Very frustrated. Slimane stated, “In the first half, we performed admirably and appeared prepared from the start.”

“In the second half, even before the red card, we did not have the same intensity. We discussed controlling the game in the second half and going for the second goal, but it was difficult to get control of the game. That was frustrating.

“After the red card, it becomes more tough. I believe we performed better with the ten men than before the red card. We also provided Barnesy with a significant opportunity.
