Rangers accused of transfer ‘Stubbornness’ amid Ridvan Yilmaz surprise at Ibrox

Rangers accused of transfer ‘Stubbornness’ amid Ridvan Yilmaz surprise at Ibrox.

In an unexpected turn of events at Ibrox, Suleyman Rodop has charged Rangers with being “stubborn” in regards to the possible transfer of Ridvan Yilmaz to Galatasaray.

During the January transfer window, the Turkish international was connected to a number of different teams, with Galatasaray now appearing to be the most likely destination should a deal be concluded before the end of the month.

But European journalist Rodop has admitted that he is surprised by just how long negotiations have taken between the two clubs and has suggested that it is the Gers’ “stubbornness” that has slowed down the transfer process.

Ridvan Yilmaz Transfer Update: Rangers Won’t Sell Cheap, Says Clement

Writing on his X account on Thursday (18 January) he said: “Galatasaray is trying to break the stubbornness of Lazio and Rangers.”

That tweet was followed moments later by: “I would have expected that negotiations with Rangers for the transfer of Rıdvan Yılmaz to Galatasaray would have already been completed…”

Stubbornness

For whatever reason, Yilmaz’s leaving is turning out to be a really challenging problem to deal with this month. Rangers’ evaluation of the Turkish defender in exchange for a purchasing club doesn’t appear to be changing much, if at all.

It makes sense that Philippe Clement would be reluctant to deal with one of his few left-backs, especially at this crucial point in the campaign, considering the paucity of left-back alternatives available to him at Ibrox.

Rangers, who are the team selling Yilmaz, have every right to be as obstinate as they like, and they will use every effort to secure a reasonable price for Yilmaz should they decide to sell him this month.

It is possible, though, that Galatasaray will get weary of the Light Blues’ intransigence and decide to do business with someone else in January, particularly if they are unable to come to a quick agreement.

In other Rangers news, Clement may sell one of the Ibrox regulars before February officially begins.
