Rangers legend says club ‘need to strengthen’ as £15 million defender makes transfer admission.
Ally McCoist, a Rangers icon, has identified three areas that he believes the Ibrox club needs to improve. Hero of the Rangers goal scoring department Ally McCoist says the team “needs starters” and urged them to sign players in January.
McCoist thinks the team needs to get stronger if they want to challenge Celtic for the championship in May. Head coach Philippe Clement has been linked to a number of players throughout the January transfer window, but he has only been able to bring in Fabio Silva from Wolverhampton Wanders on a loan deal until the end of the season.

With Yilmaz rumored to be leaving the team and Borna Barisic’s contract expiring in the summer, the Gers have been connected to several left back deals. Nevertheless, they haven’t been able to assemble the necessary numbers, with Clement acknowledging he could have to “get creative” in the window.
Meanwhile Harry Souttar, a key Rangers target in the summer has opened up on his frustration at current club Leicester City, admitting he wants to play more regularly after appearing only three times for the EFL Championship title chaser. Souttar, brother of Rangers’ John, said he knows he needs to play regular football if he is to keep his place within the Australian national squad.
“The boys have performed incredibly well this season, but it’s been a frustrating period for me personally at the club.” There’s a reason they are in the league where they are. I can’t be too critical. They’re doing a terrific job if that’s what the manager wants,” stated Soutter, who is presently representing Australia in the Asian Cup.
