Sources: Rangers to open new signing talks – deal could smash club record set by Tore Andre Flo.

Adballah Sima’s club record contract is ready to be discussed, according to insiders who spoke with Football Insider.

Transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke stated that the Gers will “no doubt” hold discussions with Brighton for a permanent deal for the Senegal

international when the January transfer window closes in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast.

The loanee, who is thought to be worth between £10 and $15 million, is thought to be available for sale by Brighton in the summer.

If a deal can be reached for Sima, it would probably end Rangers’ long-standing club record, which dates back to Andre Flo’s rumoured £12 million

move from Chelsea in November 2000.

Philippe Clement’s side are eager to keep Sima on a long-term basis following his excellent displays since joining the club on loan at the start of the season.

Brighton are hopeful that he will continue to drive up his price tag by excelling at Ibrox so he can attract further interest from other clubs.

Sima is Rangers’ top goalscorer in all competitions this season having bagged 15 goals across 33 appearances.

He was crucial in their successful Europa League group-stage campaign, notching three goals, and scored in their recent 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock in the league (2 January).

Rangers, along with Celtic and Premier League trio Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford, are pursuing Bristol City sensation Tommy Conway.

This means that Rangers are still in the running for other striker targets, according to Football Insider’s report on January 17.

With two games remaining, Rangers are eight points behind league leaders Celtic and now occupy the second spot in the standings.

The following Saturday night (20 January) they play in the Scottish Cup against Dumbarton.

In other news, a commentator claims that the summer signing is expected to agree to a permanent Rangers move this year.
