Stan Van Gundy Says Knicks Aren’t As Good as Celtics, Bucks, 76ers

Due to their recent performance, the New York Knicks are getting more respect than they usually do.

The Knicks have historically been perceived as a poor team that is incapable of making an impact when it

TNT commentator Stan Van Gundy discussed the Knicks’ recent performance with the New York Post,

pointing out that the team has a chance to win 50 games this season.

“I believe that the Knicks are doing that, and I think that people underestimate the difficulty of the

regular season and the consistency it takes to go out and play high-level basketball every single night in

the NBA.” “I think that 50 games has always sort of been a marker in the league of a really good regular-

season team.”

This would only be the second time in the past 24 seasons that the Knicks reach 50 wins in a season.

“Look, I don’t think the Knicks are as talented as those other three teams [Boston, Milwaukee, and

Philadelphia], but I’m genuine when I say Miami wasn’t nearly as good last year as the Knicks are now,

and they ended up in the NBA Finals. That’s why, as a New York fan, I’m enthusiastic about this club.

You have a puncher’s chance when boxing. In my opinion, New York now has a greater opportunity than

they have in a long time to advance further in the playoffs—perhaps even two steps. However, I still

believe that if they could go past the first round victory, they would need some rest, or perhaps they

would succeed and keep becoming better.
