Saints GM Mickey Loomis’ gum chewing-riddled press conference was awfully annoying

Might be the most annoying minute-long sound clip in the history of sports.

Mickey Loomis, the general manager of the New Orleans Saints, chewed gum during his own press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

It seems that Loomis provided an explanation for his decision to keep Dennis Allen as head coach for the upcoming season, along with other statistical

arguments. But first you would have had to go past the general manager who was chewing gum nonstop with his mouth hanging open in order to hear

any of that explanation. That would be very difficult to accomplish.

Gross. That might be the most annoying minute-long sound clip in the history of sports. What was Loomis doing? This isn’t his first press conference. Have some semblance of professionalism and decency.

We’ve all tried chewing gum, and it’s just OK. If you must chew gum during a news conference, at the very least, keep your mouth shut and chew

discreetly. What do you know? Keep your mouth shut when chewing, even if you’re not at a press conference.

The height of terrible announcing, however, may be to be found talking away while seated in front of a microphone and chewing gum with your mouth hanging open.

I don’t trust a general manager who chews gum with his mouth hanging open, much as Colin Cowherd doesn’t trust a quarterback who wears their hat

backwards. Apologies. Mickey Loomis needs to leave after that performance, but Dennis Allen can stay. Thank you for Super Bowl XLIV, Saints fans, but your job is done.
