Ange Postecoglou, the former Celtic manager, is apparently planning to make another move for Ko

Itakura of Borussia Monchengladbach after the Tottenham head coach was unable to sign the center-

back while he was in Glasgow.

Itakura started his career with Kawasaki Frontale and was then loaned to Vegalta Sendai and J League

U22 before being signed by the Premier League winners.

The 26-year-old Japanese player joined Manchester City in 2019 but did not play for the Sky Blues under

Pep Guardiola. Instead, the manager chose to loan the player to FC Groningen and Schalke 04 before

selling him to Monchengladbach in 2022.

The center back and defensive midfielder for Japan with 22 caps, one goal, and two appearances in the

Japan Pro-Footballers Association Best XI.His performances have apparently once again attracted the

attention of Postecoglou and Spurs’ Premier League rivals Liverpool. He has made an immediate

impression in the Bundesliga, having just won the club’s Player of the Month award for August,

according to The Express.

Sky Sports Germany reports claim that Itakura may quit the German team this year, with the former

Celtic manager expecting to finally land his man after failing to sign him for the Celtic Park team in 2021

and 2022. The London team will benefit more from a summer contract since that is when his £13 million

release clause will be activated.
