Mike McCarthy will be back with the Cowboys in 2024
Although we haven’t heard anything firm on Nick Sirianni’s return to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024,
there has been official head coaching news from other NFC East teams.
Despite the team’s extremely embarrassing Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers, Mike McCarthy will
NOT be leaving the Dallas Cowboys.
This is ultimately good news for the Eagles.
Yes, McCarthy has overseen a Cowboys team that has won the second-most regular season games over
the past three years. And he’s 3-5 in games against the Eagles.
But not unlike the case with his quarterback, Dak Prescott, you can set your watch to McCarthy coming
up small in the playoffs.
Dolphins- Cowboys’ 1993 Thanksgiving deserves a rewind
The only head coach to ever fall short against a No. 7 seed is McCarthy. He is the head coach of the lone
squad that has dropped its second straight home wild card game in three seasons. The only team in
history to win at least 12 games in three straight seasons without playing in a single conference final is
the one he leads as head coach.
It’s safe to say that McCarthy won’t be the one to assist the Cowboys succeed unless they do so once and
for all.
McCarthy will enter 2024, the last year of his contract, as things stand. If at all, we’ll see how the
increased pressure affects him and the squad.
